Reflections on the weekly readings

All Posts Blog: Children's Liturgy of the Word

Sunday, February 24, 2013 - 2nd Sunday of Lent

Brothers and sisters:
Our citizenship is in heaven,
and from it we also await a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

He will change our lowly body
to conform with his glorified body
by the power that enables him also
to bring all things into subjection to himself.
Therefore, my brothers and sisters,
whom I love and long for, my joy and crown,
in this way stand firm in the Lord, beloved. PHIL 3:20—4:1

Sunday, February 17, 2013 - 1st Sunday of Lent

He brought us out of Egypt
with his strong hand and outstretched arm,
with terrifying power, with signs and wonders;
and bringing us into this country,
he gave us this land flowing with milk and honey.
Therefore, I have now brought you the firstfruits
of the products of the soil
which you, O LORD, have given me.’
And having set them before the Lord, your God,
you shall bow down in his presence.”
  Heb 26:8-10

Sunday, January 27, 2013 – 3rd Sunday of Ordinary Time

The law of the LORD is perfect,
refreshing the soul;
The decree of the LORD is trustworthy,
giving wisdom to the simple.
R. Your words, Lord, are Spirit and life.
The precepts of the LORD are right,
rejoicing the heart;
The command of the LORD is clear,
enlightening the eye.
R. Your words, Lord, are Spirit and life.
The fear of the LORD is pure,
enduring forever;
The ordinances of the LORD are true,
all of them just.
R. Your words, Lord, are Spirit and life.
Let the words of my mouth and the thought of my heart
find favor before you,
O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.
R. Your words, Lord, are Spirit and life.

Sunday, January 13, 2013–Baptism of the Lord

Peter proceeded to speak to those gathered
in the house of Cornelius, saying:
“In truth, I see that God shows no partiality.
Rather, in every nation whoever fears him and acts uprightly
is acceptable to him.
You know the word that he sent to the Israelites
as he proclaimed peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all,
what has happened all over Judea,
beginning in Galilee after the baptism
that John preached,
how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth
with the Holy Spirit and power.
He went about doing good
and healing all those oppressed by the devil,
for God was with him.”
  Acts 10:34-38

Sunday, January 6, 2013–The Epiphany of the Lord

Brothers and Sisters:

You have heard of the stewardship of God's grace that

was given to me for your benefit,

namely, that the mystery was made known to me by revelation.

It was not made known to people in other generations as it has now

been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit:

that the Gentiles are co-heirs, members of the same body,

and co-partners in the promise in Christ Jesus through

the Gospel.  Ephesians 3:2-3a, 5-6

Sunday December 16, 2012–3rd Sunday of Advent, Gaudete Sunday

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I shall say it again: rejoice!

Your kindness should be known to all.

The Lord is near. Have no anxiety at all, but in everything,

by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,

make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God

that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and

minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:4-7
